PVD Coating Services
Wallwork Cambridge’s high performance physical vapour deposition (PVD) coatings have been optimised to overcome problems such tip-erosion caused by dust, debris and oil droplet formation, and can be used enhance the performance of component parts to promote weight saving via alternative material selection or promote lower coefficients of friction, both of which aid in specific fuel consumption (SFC) reduction programmes.
Backed by a well-equipped on-site laboratory with access to SEM-EDX, XRF, optical surface profilometry, scratch testing, nano hardness, UKAS tensile and impact testing, Wallwork Cambridge are able to offer comprehensive support to develop coatings to suit any application.

Nitron™ C
Overview
Nitron™ C (Chromium Nitride based) is a robust coating that delivers excellent release and wear properties, improving corrosion resistance with a low coefficient of friction. It reduces abrasive and fretting wear on tools, decreasing downtime and extending tool life. Non-reactive, non-absorbent, and non-additive, it meets FDA standards and REACH regulations, making it a superior alternative to hard chrome plating.

Nitron™ CA
Overview
•Nitron™ CA (Chromium Aluminium Nitride based) provides exceptional oxidation resistance and hot hardness, making it perfect for demanding cutting and forming tools. It maintains its hardness at temperatures up to 1050°C and is applied at temperatures less than 450 °C allowing for application before heat treatment without loss of integrity. These qualities make it an excellent alternative to traditional barrier coatings. Nitron™ CA can also replace thermal diffusion processes such as HVOF and is fully compliant with FDA and REACH standards.

Nitron™ DX
Overview
Nitron™ DX is a duplex coating system designed for enhanced wear resistance and load-bearing capacity in demanding applications. It integrates a hardened layer diffused into the base material, which can then be coated with Nitron™ C, CA, CX, or Ti. The process uses relatively low temperatures, minimizing distortion or material growth. Nitron™ DX is fully compliant with both FDA and REACH regulations.

Nitron™ Ti
Overview
Nitron™ Ti (Titanium Nitride based) features a yellow-gold color and is commonly used for both its durability and decorative appeal. Compliant with FDA regulations and highly biocompatible, it is widely applied in the medical field, including joint replacements, medical tools, and equipment identification. Nitron™ O /Nitron™ 100
Overview
•Nitron™ O and Nitron™ 100 duplex processes combine Wallwork Cambridge’s state-of-art diffusion hardening processes with PVD coatings, all in a single cycle. The diffusion-hardened layer provides exceptional load support for the subsequent PVD coating, further enhancing its wear resistant properties. This process can be applied to steels and titanium alloys. Nitron™ 100 with titanium nitride on titanium alloys is an excellent alternative to steels to promote weight-saving, and the coating prevents galling of mating surfaces.
